Third part of the Sky Trilogy directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca was launched in December, 2007. Nebbia is a creation of Cirque Éloize in co-production with Teatro Sunil. Meaning fog in Italian, Nebbia explores the world of dreams and the imaginary. In the fog, you get lost, you find each other, but above all, you are confronted with the unexpected... Nebbia will once again plunge you into a poetic and sensitive universe mixing acrobatics to theatre in a subtle way...

A word from the Director

The fog that would float down when we visited my grandparents would swallow up the entire house. The neighborhood disappeared, followed by the entire village. Standing on the living room balcony, I would spy on the void and when the sky was very low, I would see strange things. The waves of the sea came to lick at the garden gate and hallucinations paraded along the row of poplar trees. I'd watch as lovers chased after one another. I'd see camels, elephants, soldiers returning from war… Once, I even saw myself float by. I was all grown up, driving a red truck. It was often, or should I say always, a carnival...

The noise of the sea was omnipresent. And when the fog lifted, mullet and bass would be lying on the road. Once, we even found a fishing boat in the village square. An entire fishing boat. Yet the ocean was 300 kilometers from the grandparents' house.

There are other types of fog; fog that slips down over our eyes, drawing a thin veil between us and those who are already a little bit elsewhere. For some time, a fog has floated between my grandmother and me. I look a little blurred to her. Sometimes I'm my grandfather as a younger man or, in the flash of a second, just some stranger, some shadow. My grandmother has gone to the other side of the sky, which is very low. Occasionally, we see her, as the little girl I never knew, the young woman who turned grandfather's head, the old olive tree planted in the garden by an ancestor...

A word from the Creative Producer & the Director of Creation

When we first met Daniele Finzi Pasca a few years ago, we were touched by his sensitive, human approach and our intuition told us that the adventure would last for some time. From the very beginning of the NOMADE tour, we were talking about working together on a second production and, why not, maybe even a trilogy. Since that meeting in 2000, Cirque Éloize has created two shows with Daniele Finzi Pasca at the helm: NOMADE and RAIN.

The increasing involvement of other members of Teatro Sunil, as well as the growing friendship and closeness between our two companies, naturally led us to discuss this third component in the trilogy. NEBBIA was created as a joint production with Teatro Sunil.

It is with great pleasure, today, that we present the fruit of a unique, atypical partnership based on friendship and, above all, an intuitive logic.

It is thanks to a wonderful team of creators, solidly backed by an experienced production team that this show exists today. The troupe you will see on stage this evening is composed of artists from seven different nationalities. The energy that emanates from this characteristic, combined with the multidisciplinarity of the performers, has truly given birth to magic on the stage.

For 15 years now, we have approached the circus arts from the point of view that acrobatics is a part of a whole and that it must be integrated in the narrative tapestry of the show. With each of our creations, it is our firm desire to touch the spectators and simply give them an opportunity to share a few small moments of eternity with us over the course of two hours.

Our undertaking relies on breaking the rules, constantly changing traditions and integrating different forms of art. NEBBIA is a new step in this direction.
