Márton was born in Budapest in 1983, and moved to Canada at the age of 4, attending music schools at a very young
age. He studied the violin until the age of 16, and was also introduced to orchestral percussion. He had a penchant
for percussion, and began to seriously study percussion and drums at Collège Vincent-D'Indy under the tutelage of jazz
musician Eduardo Pipman. Still dedicated to being a multi-instrumentalist, Márton took a versatile approach to his professional career, through teaching and through performing, either as a percussionist with orchestras or traditional
ensembles or as a drummer melding together Cuban, African, and Oriental rhythms. In 2006, Márton earned his
Bachelor of Music degree from Université de Montréal, and developed an interest in composition, studying with José
Evangelista and Simon Bertrand. Since 2007, he has studied derbuka and cajón with master percussionist François
Taillefer and Afro-Cuban percussion with a number of masters, including Ernesto Gadel (Los Rumberos de Cuba) in
Havana, Cuba. He also participated in the La Fanfare Pourpour in Bordeaux, France. This versatile musician plays on
the Montréal music scene (Festival MMM, Festival du monde arabe, FIJM), the pop scene (Casino de Montréal), and the local scene (Widewood
Festival, Festival d'été de Québec) on a regular basis. He is a member of the bands Sagapool, Les Gitans de Sarajevo, Djoumbush, and Juan
Sebastian Larobina, acting as a percussionist, violinist, bassist, guitarist, and arranger. Since 2008, he has been working with Samajam as a
versatile musician and technical director. Márton recently enhanced his knowledge of percussion by studying in Rabat, Morocco.
